ConAgra Foods, Inc., Ozark AR
Harold Dodgen, a native of Ozark started the business of processing turkeys, with his first
customer being the Missouri Pacific Railroad, in 1946. He processed 35 turkeys for them for their Thanksgiving dinner. This led Dodgen to believe there was an untapped opportunity to make money in processing turkeys and selling them to the public. By 1966 Dodgen's production had increased to 1,370,000
head. In 1966, Cargill, Inc. contacted him and he agreed to sell an interest in the business. Cargill began selling product under the Cargill name in 1970 and continued until 2003 when ConAgra Foods,
Inc. purchased the processing plant.
In October 1991 a $13,500,000 expansion of the facilities took place. The new facility opened in March 1993 and can run 102 birds per
minute, currently processing 140,000,000 pounds per year.
ConAgra Foods, Inc. purchased the facility from Cargill, Inc. on March 17, 2003. Employment information can be obtained by calling (479) 667-8579.
SGL Carbon Group
SGL Carbon Group originally formed in 1919, is one of 20 other subsidiaries and affiliates of SGL Carbon, LLC. Maintains a sterling reputation as one of the largest and most
trusted suppliers of carbon and graphite products in the world. The Ozark graphite electrode plant began production in 1981. It produces graphite electrodes that are 14 to
32 inches in diameter. These electrodes are used in electric arc furnaces to melt scrap metal for the production of recycled steel. This location consists of approximately 150
acres, with the actual plant area occupying approximately 50 acres. SGL Carbon takes a special interest in the communities surrounding the facility by providing annual college
scholarships to deserving students and helping with many other special projects.

Ozark Super Store, located at 1910 W. Commercial is one of eleven stores in Arkansas that is owned by Charles Sexton. The Ozark store went through a major remodel in
2001. Now, with 5000 sq. feet of space they have included a new Bakery and Deli area. They currently employee approximately 50 employees.
